Ghost Hotel

The great Belvedere Hotel is one of the most iconic buildings in the Swiss Alps. Nestled in a crook of the magnificent Furka Pass, it has been the home of many travellers since it’s construction in 1882.

However, as the nearby Rhone Glacier retreated and tourism patterns have shifted, the Belvedere Hotel was forced to close in 2015. A relic of a bygone era. It now serves as a poignant reminder of the impacts of climate change and the fading glory of the region’s icy landscapes. Under the starlit sky, its empty windows and weathered facade exude both grandeur and melancholy.
